Scientists from Nikola Labs and Ohio State University came up with a brilliant and useful device for a iPhone 6 users.
By harvesting electricity from wasted radio frequency signals released by iPhone 6 itself, the revolutionary smartphone case will transform the energy into usable energy that will make batteries last up to 30 percent longer. In addition to the battery life extension feature, the case offers sleek protection, and has several features including signal-strength indicator, RF harvesting antenna, and RF-DC converter.
This invention is based in a technology called rectenna or “rectifying antenna”. If all goes well, the inventors of the device hopes to bring the technology to other low-power mobile devices including medical systems, wearable technology, and embedded sensors.
The product, which will be sold for $99, will soon be commercially available through a Kickstarter project.
